Are you taking part in the Muddy Dog challenge?

Canicross equipment and training company DogFit will be attending the Battersea Muddy Dog Challenge on Saturday 30 September 2017.

The event, held at Hever Castle, Kent, is the UK’s first ever canicross obstacle course where entrants can tackle 2.5km and 5km obstacle runs with their four-legged friends. Those taking part can enter as a team of humans, as a dog-human pair, or as a solo entrant. The Battersea Muddy Dog Challenge was organised to help raise money for the Battersea Dogs and Cats Home, and welcomes dogs and humans of all ages and fitness levels.

DogFit’s team will be there to advise entrants on the best kit to use for running with their dogs, to help with any fittings and to give information on canicross. Thus making sure the event is as fun and safe as possible.

Ginetta George, co-founder of DogFit said: “We’re so glad to see canicross rise in popularity in such a big way, and delighted that so many people are planning to take part and contribute to a good cause. Cross-country running is great exercise for both us and our dogs, and the more we can promote it, the better. We hope that DogFit can introduce canicross to even more people and their dogs in future, and bring this fun and rewarding sport to a much wider audience.”

Founded in 2015 by Gail Walker and Ginetta George, two women brought together by their love of dogs and keeping fit, DogFit is dedicated to the development and promotion of cross country running with dogs, also known as canicross.

The company sells specially designed dog harnesses and human waist belts and, with the aid of a 2-metre bungee line, owners are then attached to their dog, allowing comfortable, efficient exercise for both human runners and their four-legged friends. The canicross equipment ensures the dog has great freedom of movement but is unable to pull over their owner.

Their products include a range of different waist belts and harnesses as well as bungee lines that allow owners to run with more than one dog at a time.

DogFit also runs its own canicross classes, allowing people to run with endorsed canicross trainers, all of whom have experience in either the fitness industry or working with dogs.

The Muddy Dog Challenge will be held at Hever Castle, Kent, on Saturday the 30th of September, starting at 9:00 AM and running until 5:00 PM. Though registrations are now closed, all are welcome to cheer on spectators or enjoy live music, competitions, and fun activities at the event village.
