Ladybirds, spiders and caterpillars are all welcome to stay in the Sutton High School Bug Hotel! The nursery children love learning and playing outside in the wonderful garden area. They were keen to encourage minibeasts to play there too so got to work thinking about the types of habitats the bugs might like. They helped to build a bug hotel with different rooms of wood, straw, leaves and twigs.
The girls can often be found searching for bugs in the garden then gently carrying them over to the habitats they think would suit them best. They have developed early science skills of questioning and investigating, as well as careful observation of the insects using magnifying glasses.
As the seasons change, the children have been motivated to find out about life cycles and growing. They are learning to care for the world around them and their sense of excitement and wonder continues.
