Cadets from Years 11 to 13 at Sutton Grammar (including girls from Nonsuch) recently walked from Settle in North Yorkshire to Warcop in Cumbria, climbing the three famed “Yorkshire Peaks” of Pen-y-Ghent, Ingleborough and Whernside in the process. They carried their tents and rations as well as spare clothing with them throughout.
The penultimate day saw the 29 cadets take part in the 19th “Tan Hill Challenge”, a race from the Kearton Guest House in Thwaite up 6 miles of climbing road to the highest pub in England, Tan Hill. Carrying their full packs of course!
Faced by challenging conditions all the cadets put tremendous effort into the week and proved to be good-humoured and thoroughly well behaved throughout.
