The YMCA Level 3 Certificate in Personal Training qualification is to recognise the skills, knowledge and competence required for an individual to work unsupervised as a personal trainer. This includes being able to offer one-to-one training, baseline assessment, nutritional advice and progressive programming which is specific to the individual needs of a client.
The YMCA Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing (Gym-based Exercise) Blended Learning includes the following:
Health, Safety and Welfare in a Fitness Environment
Anatomy and Physiology for Exercise
Principles of Exercise Fitness and Health
Know How to Support Clients Who Take Part in Exercise and Physical Activity
Planning & Instructing Gym-Based Exercise
The courses are an ideal starting point for those wishing to work as a Fitness Instructor or Personal Trainer, either part time or full time, a career which is growing rapidly and enables you to work flexibly.
There are no formal entry requirements apart from an interest in health and fitness and a commitment to promoting a healthy lifestyle. The courses are suitable for anyone who wants to go into the fitness instructing side of the sports industry and is the minimum qualification you need to instruct fitness. Progression from the course can be the Level 3 Certificate in Personal Training or straight into work in a gym or as a freelance personal trainer.
