Carshalton college launching new exciting courses

Carshalton College is to introduce some exciting new courses to complement our existing provision at Carshalton College in Barbering, Computing, Digital Media, Games, Motor Vehicle, Plumbing, Carpentry, Construction Site Management and Sports.

Barbering Level 2 and Apprenticeship in Barbering 
To become a Barber, you will need to have customer service and ‘people’ skills. You’ll need creativity and an awareness of fashion. You’ll also need a willingness to learn new techniques and methods. You can study this course at College or as an Apprenticeship working in a Salon and attending College one day a week.

NextGen Diploma Games, Animation & VFX Skills Level 3
Designed by industry in collaboration with educators, the NextGen Diploma in Games, Animation and VFX Skills Level 3 ensures young people are industry ready with the right skills and knowledge for the workplace. It equips students with a foundation in art, design, maths and computing skills, which are highly desirable to industry.

HNC Digital Media & 3D Techniques Level 4
The HNC Interactive Media course includes 3D Modelling, Animation, Production and Post-production techniques for broadcast and digital media, illustration and animation. This course is very much an exploration of digital creative art and media techniques, with expert guidance in a vocational context. The College’s purpose built modern Creative Industries Centre, which boasts a fully equipped computer suite with state of the art Apple Mac computers running the latest Adobe CS Suite and Maya. There is also an extensive range of high quality equipment. In addition to this the teaching staffs are all current industry professionals with specialisms within the various fields.

Computing for Entrepreneurs Level 3
This programme of study has been developed to support students wishing to progress to employment, self-employment or University. The first year is spent learning about the computing essentials for getting work and gaining a Diploma in IT, the second year is spent putting that learning into practice and completing an extended project worth an additional A level.

HNC in Computing and Systems Development Level 4
This qualification provides a thorough grounding in the key concepts and practical skills required for success in careers in Computing and Systems Development. It provides a progression route to an HND in Computing and Systems Development or to a relevant degree programme at university.

Access to HE Diploma: Music Technology & Audio Electronics
This is an intense one year course for 19+ who want to study at University for a Music Technology Qualification either at HNC/HND or Degree level.  The course modules are Sound Engineering, Audio Electronics, Study Skills and Maths. This course is a combination of Creative and Technical in Music Technology. The Creative elements are music based assignments and projects in the studio. The Technical elements are Electronics which involves building circuits and using test equipment as well as two Engineering Maths units.

Motor Vehicle IMI Level 2 in Vehicle Fitting Principles
This course includes the full range of routine vehicle fitting procedures. It provides essential knowledge and skills for vehicle fitters working on a wide range of vehicles in all types of garages, dealerships and fast fit businesses.

Motor Vehicle Entry Level 3 Diploma for The Introduction to Motor Vehicle Industry and Technologies
This coures is for anyone interested in learning about the automotive retail industry.  It is ideal for those learners who wish to undertake a qualification which provides a stepping stone to the IMI Level 1 Diploma.

Plumbing Level 3 Full Time and Apprenticeship
Plumbers fit, service and repair hot and cold water systems, and heating systems in homes and businesses. They also work with gas fires and cookers.  If you want a varied job that makes good use of your practical skills and takes you out and about, this could be perfect for you. You will need to be good at solving problems, have the ability to follow technical plans, and understand the importance of health and safety. You’ll also need good customer care skills.

Site Carpentry Level 3 Full Time and Apprenticeship
Carpenters and joiners make and install wooden fixtures and fittings. They can work in many areas, for instance on construction sites, fitting out shops and bars, and building sets for film and TV.
If you enjoy working with wood and want to put your practical skills to good use, this could be an ideal course for you. The Level 3 Diploma in Site Carpentry (Construction) qualification is designed to develop your skills, knowledge and understanding so you can work in Site Carpentry in the construction industry or progress to further training.

CIOB Certificate in Site Management Level 4
This Certificate in Site Management course is for those working in the construction industry either as a Practicing Site Manager with no management qualification or progression from supervisory role to site management role.

Diploma in Sports Coaching Level 2 and Level 3

Sports coaches teach sports skills to individuals and teams of all sporting abilities. They teach everyone from beginners to international professionals. They help people to reach their full potential and take part safely in their chosen sport.  If you love sports and want to help people perform at their highest level, this could be the course for you.
