Choir sings new Requiem as part of commemoration event

Chandos Choir Coulsdon, a long-standing choir in the area performed a new Requiem by Howard Goodall as part of their autumn concert at St Andrew’s Church, Coulsdon which has just celebrated its centenary of founding, also 1914
The Requiem was performed in commemoration of the Centenary of the First World War aswell as a selection of hymns parodies as sung by WW1 soldiers.

“We arranged for representatives of the local Poppy Appeal to be there to collect, and obtained permission from the RBL to use the poppy logo on the posters and programme,” said a spokesperson.

“I am delighted to announce we raised over £150 for the legion. I am myself a poppy seller for 8 years now, so this was a great way to combine 2 things I enjoy – singing and collecting for the veterans.
