The Sutton Cricket Club’s Ladies team had a very exciting win over Spencer recently and then sealed the evening T20 league with a home win over Outwood!

“We now play in a final showdown at Outwood on Wednesday 9th August. We played a friendly against touring International side Guernsey, and narrowly lost by 15 runs. Next on the agenda is Nutfield (h) on Sun 6th August. 8 of us went to the Ladies World Cup Final at Lords and experienced a thrilling game that half the population seem to be talking about! It has done wonders for the game and lets hope that  our club  can grasp this opportunity to attract more women and girls to come and have a go! said a spokesperson.

“Our new Junior Girls  Friday sessions are proving popular, with around 10 girls each week. Perhaps next season we can start a Senior girls session for 11-14 yr olds as we have a number this age group now turning up to the Ladies training? Grant has been to Cheam High School to do a taster session there which was enjoyed by all. The Head of P.E is going to run a girls cricket club next season and will link with us to encourage girls to carry on playing.”
