Can you ignite a passion for reading?

Stanley Park High is looking for two Reading Champions to inspire and foster a love of reading in our
students, and improve reading skills in students across all years and all abilities.

As well as being a voracious reader with a love of literature, and knowledge of teenage and young adult
fiction, our SPH Reading Champions will enjoy working with young people and will be passionate about
promoting reading for pleasure to students. The role will be based in our Learning Resource Centre, but
the Reading Champions will make him or herself known all around the school, generating creative ideas for
events, promotions and displays. She or he will explore new ideas and new approaches to inspire students
to fall in love with a book and improve their literacy.
Our Reading Champions will run reading groups and interventions for those who need to improve their
reading skills, but will also find ways to challenge and motivate those who are already readers.
In this post you will work with individuals and small groups to provide high quality learning support to
students.
Relevant paid experience of working with young people is desirable and excellent communication skills are
essential.
