Wallington Fire Station opens its doors to the public in an opportunity to celebrate with firefighters and learn life saving fire safety lessons at 19 Belmont Road, Wallington ,SM6 8TE on August 23 from moon to 4pm.
“Our Open Days feature a variety of family friendly events while promoting fire safety messages to local residents. People will also have the chance to look around the station and check out the equipment used by Brigade firefighters. A vast array of firefighting equipment and vehicles will also be on show,” said a spokesperson.
These Open Days are a great opportunity to learn more about how we as an organisation serve the public and for the public in turn to give us some vital feedback about what more we can do to help them.
Playmobil are helping the service organise 65 special open days across London to celebrate the Brigade’s 150th anniversary. The anniversary open days will be a perfect day out for anyone who’s ever fancied playing firefighter for a day, taking place across London from April through to December. Children big and small can meet real firefighters and life-sized Playmobil ones, plus enjoy toys and activities galore.
Limited-edition London Fire Brigade versions of popular Playmobil Fire Brigade sets have also been created for little ones to learn through play at home. Ten per cent of proceeds will be donated to the Brigade’s charities of choice, with toys available from April to purchase at the open days and from Playmobil customer services.
• The day will have plenty to see including a vintage appliance ,fire investigation dog. specialist rescue appliance there will even be ice cream .
• Wallington Fire Station was built in 1938 ,it currently is responsible for a station ground that is approx. 20sq km consisting of mainly residential suburbia with several large housing estates and a mixture of old and new industrial areas.
• The firefighters will also be raising money for the Fire Fighters Charity and Tadworth Children’s Hospital by donation and fundraising activities.
