Louise Upchurch has signed up to be a Mariposa Trust Hero. This means she have agreed to become a voluntary fundraiser for the charity for the next year with the aim of raising at least
She has set up her first challenge – encouraging people to donate their first fiver or a fiver towards the charity.
The charity does great work to support families who have experienced baby loss. For more information go to www.sayinggoodbye.org
Here is how the money raised will be used:
Create and supply information packs / leaflets to be placed into every NHS hospital and Private hospital across the country so parents can access the information they need as soon as they need it.
Plan and run the Saying Goodbye services at Cathedrals and Ministers, (the aim is to hold a service within 60 minutes of every home).
Run the first national baby loss bereavement service, dealing with all baby loss at any stage of pregnancy, at birth or in infancy. This will include training and equipping support staff, befrienders, counsellors and the medical profession on how to properly support and stand alongside people going through loss, or who have gone through loss.
Support work in changing the treatment and support of people going through loss, by hospitals and health care professionals, as well as by society as a whole. We want to be in a place where no-one has a bad experience to tell about the loss of their much loved baby. We know currently this is the overriding trend, where most people in their story about loss, can tell about huge insensitivities and mistakes that have made the grieving process for them so much harder and longer.
