There are still some places left on the Sutton Mental Health Foundation’s Mental Health First Aid course which will now take place on Thursday 6th and Friday 7th October .

The course is £250/person for 2 days and further discounts can be discussed if you are part of a third sector organisation, or a person using services or a carer.

What to expect from Mental Health First Aid training:

Mental Health First Aid is an international two days course which aims at preserving life and bring first aid assistance to anyone experiencing emotional distress or crisis.

At the end of MHFA training participants become certified Mental Health First Aiders and have gained sufficient knowledge to assist a person experiencing a vulnerable time or a more serious crisis.

During this course, participants learn about:
•            The concept of mental health
•            Depression
•            Anxiety disorders
•            Psychosis
•            SHIFT: a review of SHIFT’s practical guide to managing and supporting people with mental health problems in the workplace
At the end of the course they are generally able to follow the 5 basic steps of MHFA: ALGEE:

1.           Assess risk of suicide or self-harm
2.           Listen non-judgementally
3.           Give reassurance and information
4.           Encourage the person to get appropriate professional help
5.           Encourage self-help strategies

MHFA is a cost effective training which is becoming increasingly popular in both public/statutory organisations and private companies.
Sutton Mental Health Foundation has 2 certified MHFA National Instructors who are fully trained to deliver the course.

The MHFA England rate, per person, as per their guidelines is £300 but we are offering this October course at a reduced £250/head rate to make it more accessible so please, do not miss out on this opportunity!!

There is a maximum of 16 places for this training so do email me soon if you are interested as these places tend to go very quickly, especially when we down the cost!”
