Public event to help design of service and building of new building

The Royal Marsden is planning an exciting new building in Sutton hospital which is being entirely funded by donations to The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity. The Centre for Clinical Care and Research will involve a new Outpatients Department, Medical Day Unit and Haemato-Oncology Daycare unit alongside clinical and research teams to ensure research is central to everything we do.

The hospital is holding patient and public involvement events to enable patients and the public to draw on their own experience to input into this new service and building design.

cancer-charityIt is using a participatory approach to gain insights from people who are likely to use the service, but also from the wider public. There are several key elements:
Observing clinical areas to understand issues/concerns (Completed)
Hold staff/patient feedback event (Completed) to give preliminary feedback on key elements that can be introduced into design of new build
Work with those groups to create design
Hold a patient and public event

Public and patient event:
The second event, broadened out to also include the public is held in order to review preliminary progress with architects, patients/families and the CCCR project team to see how co-design has influenced subsequent architectural plans.

The workshop is on Tuesday 19th July at 2pm and is open to Patients and Carers
