Recovery College summer school will take place in August

This summer, South West London and St George’s Mental Health NHS Trust Recovery College is hosting a full week of free workshops from Monday, August 8 to Friday August 12. It’s an opportunity for service users, friends, family and carers to learn more, ask questions and find out what resources are available.

The Recovery College supports people to become experts in their own self-care and wellbeing. Nine workshops will be offered over the week, including: welfare benefits, mindfulness and meditation, employment, art workshops and involvement.

Chief Executive David Bradley said:

“We are incredibly proud of the Recovery College, which was the first of its kind to be opened in the UK. Taking back control of your life is an important part of your recovery. This Summer school is a chance for students and their families to explore the extensive services the College and the Trust has to offer. Our courses give students the tools to make informed choices and to help them do the things they want to in life.

“There are workshops for a variety of needs and interests. One of them will support service users to have a voice in Trust activities. The best decisions we can make for the Trust involve service users who have been through our services – this is one of many ways they can become involved in the future of the Trust, and we would certainly encourage people to come along.”
