Sutton Central Library to re-open in next couple of weeks

Sutton Central Library will be reopening on 9 April following a major refurbishment.

The library closed in November as work got underway to create a modern, safe environment for library users, with a refreshed stock and upgraded computer facilities.

Among the highlights will be a new children’s library on the ground floor with the latest interactive technology.

The revamped ground floor will also feature an improved cafe, toilets, baby change facilities and buggy park. Features will be incorporated into the design to help children and adults with learning difficulties.

New self-service machines for taking out and returning books will be installed along with upgraded computers.

On the top floor will be a new gallery space for exhibitions. A  family history centre will provide easy access to many historic documents from Sutton’s extensive archives, along with dedicated access to the genealogy website, Ancestry.com
