Sutton Housing Partnership manages council housing in the borough on behalf of Sutton Council. Over the past few months the council has been reviewing this arrangement to ensure residents receive a high quality and cost effective service. Engagement with tenants, leaseholders, partners and staff has been a key part of this process, helping us understand the positives and challenges with the current service and the priorities for the future.

The three options for the future delivery of the service were:

  • Remodelling SHP

  • Bringing the service back under the direct control of the council

  • Setting up a shared service with Kingston Council

Following various engagement activities and an independent review of the data, on 13th June the council’s Housing, Economy & Business (HEB) committee agreed to the recommendation to retain and remodel SHP. This means that SHP will continue to manage the council’s housing stock, with some changes to how the service is structured and delivered. The precise detail of what a remodelled SHP will look like is yet to be determined and will be worked on over the coming months, in partnership with SHP.
