Sutton United Youth were well beaten in the FA Youth Cup 3rd Qualifying Round as Corinthian scored 3 without reply at Gander Green Lane. Match report here.
Sutton were outclassed in every department as Corinthian’s Under-18s scored 3 without reply to win through to the FA Youth Cup 1st Round Proper.
The visitors could have been ahead inside the first 15 seconds as they sliced through a fragile home defence but Oscar Housego was denied by a smart stop from Sandile Wydler-Manzi. The Sutton keeper was called into action again just a couple of minutes later as Malik Thomas raced clear from half-way but saw his strike saved. Housego then went close with a long range effort that was pushed wide for a corner, before Sutton had a rare sniff at goal when Seyi Aka-Bashorun’s free-kick eventually fell to Jamie Blanco who saw his volley creep wide of the far post. On 38 minutes though, Corinthian got the goal that their superiority deserved in somewhat fortunate circumstances when Conor Johnson’s shot deflected off Louis Clarke leaving Wydler-Manzi stranded as the ball nestled in the bottom corner. Sutton should have equalised with a minute to go before half-time when Kieron Rhule found Darnell Austin down the right and his low cross found Jean-Luc Kinsaba in space but he fired over with the goal at his mercy.
Sutton briefly threatened in the opening stages of the second half with dangerous crosses from either flank not finding a yellow shirt, but on 48 minutes Lamar Fowlkes was caught in possession inside his own half as Thomas raced down the right and found Johnson at the far post who touched home. Wydler-Manzi was called into action several times to keep the scoreline down but could do nothing about the 3rd as Ephraim Adekoya swivelled on the edge of the box and found the top corner.
