Young leaders course to help develop scouting in the area

The Scout Association’s Greater London South West has an ongoing initiative to empower, value and develop its Young Leaders, so a County Fun Training Adventure to be held at 4th Worcester Park’s Headquarters over the weekend 23-25th February was arranged. 56 young people registered.

The concept was to let them develop and improve their leadership skills like teamwork, programme planning, communication ability and much more while joining together and having fun. All the Young Leaders scheme modules except K (First Aid) would be provided. There would also be opportunities for Archery, Judo by Yamabushi Yodakan Club, homework plus a Scottish dinner and Ceilidh. Ceremonies from different areas like the Sea Scouts, Cubs and Beavers were demonstrated and all sessions had mentors from the Young Leader’s section to assist. The meals would all be provided by District Service crews to allow all the members to concentrate on the information and presentations on offer.

Simon Keen and his County team provided a brilliant weekend and I am sure the pictures will prove that we have a great deal of talent in our Districts and we need to give these Young People their heads to go on and become the Leaders of the Future.
