Imagine – Sutton’s largest festival of the arts – is to celebrate the work of one of the borough’s finest creative artists, novelist HG Wells, this autumn. The fantastic imagination of the author, who lived in Langley Park Road and in Worcester Park at different times in his career, will provide the inspiration for a series of projects and events in Sutton libraries and heritage sites from 15 to 30 October.

Applications for grants of up to £800 are being invited from individuals and organisations who deliver cultural and artistic events in the borough.

The Council is encouraging projects that celebrate Sutton’s history and the story of local communities and projects that lead participants and audiences to the borough’s libraries, in some way. In addition, all projects must benefit people living in Sutton to be eligible.

All applications must be received by Monday 4 July and all successful applicants will be notified by Monday 18 July. A mixed panel of officers from the London Borough of Sutton will assess the applications, along with two independent representatives from the community.

Those interested in applying for a grant for a project should read the detailed guidelines and download an application form by visiting here For more information email: or ring 020 8770 6985.

This festival is supported by The London Borough of Sutton and public funding from Arts Council of England.
