img-9085ps_origOn Monday evening, following two weeks of exciting heats, the nail biting final of this year’s Sutton High School Summer Music Competition took place.  In front of an audience of girls, parents and staff, with visiting adjudicator, Mr Gareth Hemmings, the finalists all played and sung beautifully.

Mr Hemmings, Director of Music at Old Palace School in Croydon, has had many years of experience as a musician and teacher and gave the girls some extremely useful and supportive feedback.

He was very impressed by the high quality of music-making at Sutton High and found it difficult to pick winners for each category.

Although all the finalists should be congratulated for their performances, particular congratulations should go to Yumeka I (winner of the Beginner class), Margaret P (winner of the Intermediate class), Triniti R-N and Grace S (winners of the Ensemble class), Yeji P who won the Advanced class and Yui Y who was chosen as this year’s Sutton High School Young Musician of the Year.
