Knife used in attempt to steal moped in Carshalton

Police are appealing for information after two suspects on a moped followed and threatened another moped rider with a knife on Saturday, 9 July at around 19:20hrs.

The victim became aware of another moped travelling close by at the London Road junction with Longfield Avenue, Hackbridge.

When he turned into Nightingale Road, Carshalton, the following moped pulled up and one of the riders said: ‘Give me your bike’. It was when the victim reached nearby Rossignol Gardens that one of the suspect’s threatened him with a knife and tried to take his bike and steal his keys.

The suspects failed to take the bike and left in an unknown direction with the knife.

The suspects’ are described as aged 19-20. They wore helmets and were riding a dark coloured moped believed to be a Honda.
