Sutton Common Rovers first team suffered their annual defeat away at Epsom on Tuesday night, but went mighty close to picking up a point, writes Gary Brigden

As most will know, our record against Epsom & Ewell is very poor, and this defeat means we last recorded a win over them way back in April 2011.

A cagey first half saw us hit the woodwork through a Danny Fernandez free kick five minutes before the break, only for Epsom to take the lead with a low drive on the stroke of half time.

Michael Campbell fired us level two minutes into the second half and after Liam Holden and Elton Gjoni had both spurned chances, we fell behind midway through the half.

Agonisingly, Campbell struck the post deep into stoppage time, and our hopes of a point disappeared.
