warmSutton Council is supporting the BIG WARM UP Shoebox Appeal and need your help!

The annual appeal is something we can all take part in to help make winter a little warmer for the homeless. Items packed into shoeboxes will be distributed to various shelters, hostels, homeless projects and directly to people on the streets of London and Surrey.

Last year Sutton gathered a brilliant 53 boxes that went directly to those who need them the most. This year let’s reach even more!

Here’s a list of ideas: socks, hat, scarf, gloves, chocolates, soft drinks, energy bars, sweets, razors, shaving foam, feminine hygiene products, deodorant, toothpaste, wet wipes, writing drawing pad, pens, heat pads, hand warmers, mini first aid kit, wind-up radio, torch or dog treats.

Please feel free to decorate or wrap the boxes, but leave them so they can be opened for checking (sealed with an elastic band if possible). Sleeping bags are also a welcomed, but please make sure they are clean and packed in a bag.

You can drop your items or complete boxes off at any of our Children’s Centres: Amy Johnson Children’s Centre, Beddington Children’s Centre, Green Oak Children’s Centre, Muschamp Children’s Centre, Tweeddale Children’s Centre or Thomas Wall Children’s Centre.

The last day for collections will be Wednesday 14 December 2016. Contact the Family Information Service on 0208 770 6000 for more information.
