Spencer           117 (Cummins 4-27, Moolman 4-29) 39.5 overs

Beddington won by 49 runs

Beddington continued their recent run of success in the Surrey Championship Division One by beating second placed Spencer on Saturday. Beddington have now won their last four games.

Spencer won the toss and asked Beddington to bat first. They got off to a customary poor start not helped by two of the top three being out without playing a shot. After being reduced to 76-5, it was their lower order who steered the home side towards a total which gave their bowlers something to bowl at. Ryan Cummins (30) and Parth Vyas (27) steadied the ship and useful contributions were made by Jack Rogerson (18), Gareth Williams (14) and Elliot Chmielinski (10).

Chasing 167 to win, Spencer started no better than Beddington, losing their first four wickets for 53. Dan Lewis, opening the bowling in the absence of Tom Bevan, took a wicket with his first ball and Cummins too chipped in with two early wickets. Indeed, their total, if not their whole innings, was held together by Sivakumaran (66). After tea a fine run out, effected by the Chmielinski brothers, started Spencer on a downward slope and when Sivakumaran was well caught in the gully by Vyas off Moolman, Beddington were smelling victory. The Spencer tail had no real answer to the Cummins and Moolman combination, these two sharing 8 of the wickets.

Full of confidence now, Beddington entertain top of the table Sutton next week and will be looking to avenge their defeat earlier in the season.
