Two youth charity events were organised recently by Save the Children Sutton’s when volunteers enjoyed a Youth T20 cricket for Cheam Cricket Club, and an afternoon for a Piano Summer Concert for pupils of Judith Burton at Reigate Grammar School.
This concert marks it’s 47th inception and has been raising money for Save the Children for the last 25 years.
The ever working Save the Children President, The Lord Tope CBE was in fine form presenting awards. Firstly, giving 12 trophies to pupils for good practise work and earning sponsorship monies.
In the evening he arrived in time to present the inaugural ‘Save the Children Cup’ to the winners Cheam CC. The runners up were Sutton CC who also completed Beddington CC and Worcester PK CC.
Both events were well publicised and attended, and gathered more than £1,000 for the fund.
There were thanks for the Bursar and Staff of Reigate School for using the facilities, and thanks for the Cheam Sports and it’s Cricket Section for the reception and the ground during the ‘50’ year.
