Chipstead & Coulsdon Walcountians v. Beddington on Saturday 29th July 2017

Toss won by Chipstead & Coulsdon OW

Beddington 73-4 (Simon Lewis 37 not) (25 overs)

Match Abandoned.

For the second week in succession Beddington’s game in the Surrey Championship Division 1 fell foul

to the weather and only 25 overs were possible before the rain came down and barely stopped for

the rest of the day.

This meant that Beddington had missed the opportunity to continue their excellent winning run of 4

successive games against last week Sutton (top) and this week Chipstead (2nd)

As seems to be the norm, Beddington started badly, gifting two of the first three wickets to

Chipstead for only 27 runs.  But Beddington skipper Simon Lewis was not in the mood to hang about.

He took the attack to Chipstead and took kindly to the bowling of Leigh Padfield, depositing him over

cover for 6. Lewis and Seb Chmielinski (21) batted sensibly for about an hour before the latter got a

leading edge back to the bowler. Graham Lester just about had time to stroll out to the wicket as

the rain began to fall. And that was that for the remainder of the day. Tea was taken and it was not

long before the captains shook hands.

Next week the 50 overs games recommence and Beddington will be away at the O. Whitgiftians.
