Sutton Empire Cinemas adds further two screens as cinema box office sales soar

Evaluation media company, ComScore, have revealed just how big 2018 was for the UK film industry. ComScore revealed that the 2018 box office sales passed £1.3 billion for the fourth consecutive year, with Empire Cinemas contributing to the success.

Adding to the success after just one year of trading in Sutton, Empire Cinemas now features a further 2 screens, with one being an extra D-Box for Sutton movie lovers.

With what’s expected to be an even bigger 2019 and awards season on the horizon, cinemagoers can catch some of the biggest contenders playing at Empire Cinemas this January, including Mary Queen of Scottswhich will be screened from the 18th January, Greenbook which arrives on the screen on 1st February, BAFTA leading nomineeThe Favourite, Stan & Ollie and many more.

Sutton Wire podcast looks at school places issue in borough

Sutton Wire the borough’s latest podcast with an aim of keeping residents in touch with various borough issues has announced the publication of its second episode.


Sutton Wire deals this week with:

  • School place crisis in Sutton – a new secondary school is confirmed for Rosehill run by Greenshaw, but it won’t open before September 2021 and may not be ready until September 2022. But that will leave over 300 children leaving primary school in 2020 without a secondary school place, and possibly another 320 in 2021. The task of providing so many temporary school places falls to the council who as yet do not have a plan. This problem has been brewing for about 5 years, so I run through the history of why the schools weren’t just built on time.
  • The council has noticed that getting in touch to deal with an issue can be difficult and frustrating, so they’ve launched a new Customer Access Strategy to address it. I discuss this with Cllr David Hicks, Conservative Deputy Leader.

As Marketing Executive, you will work alongside the Head of Business Devleopment to effectively develop and deliver the marketing plan, driving and generting leads and new business.. Your role will include (but not be limited to the following) 

  • Producing creative and effective online and offline marketing campaigns
  • Targeted copy for a variety of media sources (both print and online)
  • Ensuring branding is consistent
  • Working on various events within the business
