Big Bands and Big names at Richmond theatre in October

From toe-tapping music and dance shows to knee-slapping comedic performances, October’s special events are guaranteed to delight Richmond audiences!

Kicking the month off is the ever-entertaining Miller Plays The Musicals.  The Astor Big Band and Singers plus chorus from BROS present big band hits from Glenn Miller, The Andrews Sisters and Frank Sinatra, including American Patrol and Moonlight Serenade.  Plus more music from West End musicals such as Les Mis, West Side Story, 42nd Street, Chess, Grease and Chicago, all in the Miller easy-listening style. All profits go to the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.

Following a series of critically acclaimed, sold out international tours, Simon Amstell begins his fifth UK stand up tour to Richmond. What Is This? promises to be a deeply personal, funny exploration of beauty, intimacy, freedom, sex and love. Simon will be supported by Mawaan Rizwan who is best is known for his absurd stand-up and captivating physicality. His YouTube videos have been viewed over 18 million times. He is also an actor – starring in the BAFTA-winning BBC3 drama Murdered By My FatherITV’s Next of Kin and Simon Amstell’s Carnage.

Get ready to Rip it Up with two Strictly Champions together with one Strictly Professional live on stage with BBC Radio Two’s Leo Green with musicians, dancers and singers. Jay McGuiness, Natalie Lowe and Louis Smith will swing, bop, jitterbug, lindy hop, jive and ballroom through the greatest songs from the greatest decade of music! The music in the show spans various styles from romantic ballads and crooner songs through to classic pop hits and the shattering world of rock ’n’ roll.

The legendary Joe Brown takes the Richmond stage alongside special guest Henry Gross with musical styles incorporated into this new show as unique as the man himself. Packed with timeless classics, rockabilly, gospel, country, folk and rock ‘n’ roll, all interwoven with Joe’s effervescent delivery and humorous reminiscences, this sensational show is a musical journey not to be missed.

Music fans are invited to the biggest party of the year as the unstoppable Magic of Motown show steams into town! Prepare yourself for 40 back-to-back classic Motown hits, glittering costume changes, dazzling dance moves and outstanding musicianship in this explosive concert experience. Celebrate the sound of a generation as the timeless music of Marvin Gaye, Diana Ross, Stevie Wonder, The Temptations, The Supremes, The Four Tops, Martha Reeves, Jackson 5, Lionel Richie, Smokey Robinson and more are sensationally recreated for you by an exceptionally talented cast and band.
