Borough’s Age UK unveiled as lead partner

Age UK Sutton has been unveiled as the lead partner to develop the borough’s future strategy for older people as part of the Sutton Plan

Leader of Sutton Council, Cllr Ruth Dombey, made the announcement at the charity’s Annual Review recently.

Cllr Dombey said: “People are living longer and the support they need is becoming more complex.  We want to develop this part of the Sutton Plan more fully, to ensure that all older people’s needs are met, their ideas are listened to and their voices are heard.

“In Sutton we are proud that our voluntary and community sector works so well together, and works effectively with the council,  local GPs and other partners.

“I am therefore very pleased to announce that Sutton Council is asking Age UK Sutton to be the lead partner for the older people’s strand of the Sutton Plan.”

Chief Executive of Age UK Sutton, Nicola Upton, said: “We are pleased to be asked to take on this lead role in the Sutton Plan. As the only charity in Sutton offering such a broad range of services for older people, we want to use this opportunity to bring together our dynamic community, including organisations, professionals and individuals and use our collective voice to make Sutton a great place to grow older.”

Age UK Sutton is an independent, local charity working across the borough of Sutton. The charity marked its 25th birthday last year.

Age UK Sutton will work closely with Sutton Council, partners and older people to develop priorities for improving later life in Sutton.
