Towards the end of last academic year, the Board of Trustees of the Nonsuch and Wallington Education Trust (NWET) approached the Governing Body of Carshalton High School for Girls regarding the possibility of CHSG becoming an integral part of the NWET Multi-Academy Trust.

The Trust has been in place for nearly two years and its vision is to grow in a manageable way, developing a centre of excellence in girls’ education within the London/South East region. In doing so the Trust proposes to change its name and is currently considering the Girls Learning Trust.

The trust aims to bring together a diversity of girls’ schools, each with their own identity, who by being together in the same trust will be able to utilise the strengths of all schools to support the development and improvement of girls’ education across the Trust.

CHSG shares the vision for girls’ education and excellence and therefore CHSG governors have made the decision to formally consult on the proposal of CHSG joining the newly-named Trust.

There will be a period of consultation and due diligence and at the end of November/early December the Governing Body of CHSG and the Board of Trustees of the NWET Trust will meet to decide whether they wish to take the proposal forward with the Department of Education.

There will be open sessions held at the school in mid-October (dates and times to be confirmed) where parents/carers of CHSG will be invited to the school to meet Mrs Jones, Headteacher and Mr Harding, Chair of Governors, to receive further information and ask any questions about the proposal.
