Anyone watching this game would have felt that they had got their money’s worth as it swayed first one way and then the other.
Beddington started disastrously losing their top 5 batsmen with only 26 on the board. But the rot stopped there. As Graham Lester and Ryan Cummins set about repairing the damage, it was Lester who was the main aggressor while Cummins played mainly a supporting role. But as their confidence grew, Cummins too started to attack. After a stand of 107 Lester was LBW to Harry Allen but the runs continued to flow. Seb Chmielinski had joined Cummins and he too decided that attack was the best means of defence. These two put on a further 34 before Cummins, not for the first time this season, was run out. Chmielinski continued to take the attack to Sutton with a huge 6 over long-on and by now Beddington had managed to reach a very respectable 199 after their shocking start,
