Fingers and eyes can help raise funds for St Helier Hospital’s neonatal unit

Residents are being asked to put their green fingers and eye for a funny photograph to the test, as part of a new fundraising campaign for the Neonatal Unit at St Helier Hospital.

Magician and long-term supporter of the hospital unit, Theo Theodoris, is inviting local people to take part in a sunflower growing competition, with trophies and framed certificates going to the budding gardener with the tallest or widest sunflower, or the wackiest picture of you with your new bloom.

To enter, simply buy a Magic Seed Pack for £10 from either the Neonatal Unit or Theo, and get growing! Proceeds will be used to fund additional equipment to care for babies who have been born prematurely and those babies needing a period of specialist care and support following birth.

Head of Paediatric and Neonatal Nursing, Lorna Bramwells, said: “We are absolutely delighted that the Magic Sunflower Competition will be helping to grow funds for our Neonatal Unit, and would like to thank everyone who has already bought their Magic Seed Pack.

“We also owe a huge thank you to Theo, who has helped to support and fundraise for us since his daughter, Elena, received care with us when she was born 10 weeks early. She is now 15, and we are really pleased to see her doing so well.”

You can buy your seed pack directly from the Neonatal Unit, (2nd floor of the Women and Children’s block at St Helier) or alternatively, you can order online from: www.magictheo.com/theos-magic-sunflower-competition-2017 and have them delivered to your address. Contact [email protected] for more information.

Your pack will include competition rules, a ‘how to grow your sunflower’ guide, a certificate, 10 sunflower seeds, and a magic gift. If you want to enter, it’s best to hurry, as the latest you can plant your seeds is the first week of July!
