London Business Dad and inspirational blogger of DaddiLife, who campaigns for fathers across the UK ,  has been crowned Working dad of the Year in Pitman Training’s International SuperAchievers Awards.

This year the awards called for employers, colleagues and friends input into selecting the nation’s SuperAchievers for 2017, an approach that saw Pitman Training give the decision to the public to play the role of the judge.

Category winner, Han-Son Lee, combines a busy role in marketing alongside founding and running DaddiLife, a website designed to build community for the modern day Dad, harnessed the most support from the public vote, and that alongside high judges scores secured her victory.

Han-son brings this wealth of experience as a marketer to his work on DaddiLife.

DaddiLife was created approximately 12 months ago and has already got an engaged following of around 50,000 dads. Han-son has set in motion initiatives to support fathers feeling the pressure of down weighting their careers in order to spend more quality time at home, that ‘fatherhood penalty’ is something they’re actively looking to address.

They have started working with the Working Families Charity recently to do just that and hope to take that to the Parliamentary enquiry on work and dads.

When asked what role he intends to play after winning the accolade of ‘Working Dad of the Year, Hanson said – “I am on a mission to support other dads and our fight to win more time with our children.  So much has changed about fatherhood, and many dads are making a huge range of compromises – whether at home or at work.  I hope that this win can champion change for more working dads across the UK and I’d love to reach out to others who might share my experience and are looking for help.”

Panel Judge and Dad Blogger John Adams commented: “We hear a great deal about the pressures of being a working mum. In the modern age, however, men are increasingly struggling to balance work and family life and this is rarely recognised. Pitman Training has taken a brave step by introducing a Working Dad of the Year category, but it’s one that acknowledges the realities of modern fatherhood and the workplace. All of the finalists stood out for very different reasons and each one is clearly doing their very best to balance fatherhood with the responsibilities of work. The winner goes out of his way to help other dads but has seen the value in switching off and dedicating time to his family”.
