Outstanding A Level results at Sutton High School

Girls at Sutton High School GDST are celebrating another year of outstanding A Level success, with 60% of all grades at A*–A. Over 36% of girls achieved at least straight A*s and As, while 18% achieved straight A*s.

The results mean that girls have secured places at leading universities across the country, with 80% of Sutton High students continuing their academic careers at their first choice Russell Group universities.

Olivia Kumar has not only won a place to read History at the University of Cambridge, but will also take up a prestigious Choral Scholarship.

Susie Ilves, Nandini Roy and 2016 leaver Jessica Neden will be going on to study Medicine at St George’s University of London, Imperial College London and the University of Nottingham respectively. Between the three of them, the girls had received a total of 11 offers to study Medicine, in a subject where students usually hope to receive one or two offers each.

Among other students going on to study at top universities, Christy Spring is taking up a place to study Geography at the University of Bristol, Rachel Naismith will read History & Politics at the University of Edinburgh, Anna Marsden-Walker has achieved a place on the History course at the University of Leeds and talented flautist Charlotte Croucher will read Law at the University of Exeter.

STEM success for Sutton High School included Naseem Khan confirming her offer to read Physics with Theoretical Physics at Imperial College London and Helen Stephens winning a place on the Engineering course at University College London.

Isabel Kirby, who has been selected for the British Rowing World Class Start Programme, will benefit from world-class training and facilities whilst studying Liberal Arts at the University of Bristol.

“This is another set of excellent A Level results for Sutton High School and I congratulate all the girls on their academic achievements, as well as their contribution to every area of school life over the years.

“We are proud that we have such a strong representation of girls going on to study STEM subjects including Medicine, Physics and Engineering, and we look forward to hearing about their successes in their chosen fields in future.

“There were outstanding results in many subjects, including Art where we achieved 100% A*and A grades, and Latin and Music, where 100% of grades were A*.

“I am very proud of all the girls and staff for their success and would also like to thank our parents and families for their fantastic ongoing support.”
