On Saturday 13th January, the Prime Minister, Theresa May, came to Sutton to launch the local Conservatives local election campaign for May 2018.

She joined local MP Paul Scully, along with Conservative candidates for Sutton Council and activists to campaign with them on the doorsteps in Cheam.

Theresa May said: “Paul Scully had raised the question of problems with the bin collection here in Sutton with me in Prime Minister’s Questions, so it’s good to come out and hear that some of the issues have been sorted out, however, still some issues remain here for people about the way the local Council is operating. It’s great to be on the doorstep campaigning, meeting people and talking to them about what Conservatives can do for them in Sutton and across the country.”

Paul Scully said: “It was great to show the PM first hand some of the issues people had raised with me about Sutton council, not just the ongoing bin saga which has attracted national headlines, but also a number of other areas which point to the complacency of our council.”
