Single goal victory for Sutton Common Rovers

football-3A goal from Adam Allen just before the hour gave the first team of Sutton Common Rovers a  1-0 win over Chertsey Town, writes Gary Brigden

Overall it was a pretty controlled performance from the lads who had much the better throughout the game.

On a bobbly surface both sides, to their credit, tried to get the ball down and play, and in the first half, Ollie Ellaway saved well low down from John Pomroy, whilst at the other end, Michael Campbell forced a save out of the Chertsey keeper.

We had much the better of the second half, with Chertsey mainly restricted to quick breakaways. Allen scored on 58 minutes after a Campbell shot was only half saved, and both Jordan Johnson-Palmer and Matt Auletta could have increased our lead.

At the other end, a couple of iffy back-passes caused Ollie Ellaway (in for the injured Craig Bradshaw) a couple of scares but the keeper dealt with them and we picked up another good three points
