Speedwatch exercise checking a 20mph speed limit

On 28 February Councillor Richard Clifton and residents of Cedar Road joined the police in a “Speedwatch” exercise to check the speeds of vehicles in a road with a 20 mph speed limit that is regularly exceeded.
The technology – a “Speedgun” – is remarkable and enables the user of the gun to focus on an approaching vehicle 100 yards away and check the speed.
Those breaking the limit receive a warning letter and action is escalated if they are caught again.
Councillor Clifton said “We were frozen to the bone, but speeding kills and this was a worthwhile exercise.”
