Support borough’s fantastic young musicians as they compete in top competition

sutton music serviceFive of Sutton’s best young musicians are busy preparing for next week’s final of Sutton Music Service Young Musician of the Year.

Unusually, four of this year’s finalists are brass players, reflecting the enviable reputation that Sutton Music Service’s bands and orchestra have rightly gained for the high quality brass playing. Trumpeters Joseph Sauer (Sutton Grammar), Martha Dean (Nonsuch High) and Tom Thornton (Wilson’s), are joined in the final by trombonist Hannah Roberts (St Philomena’s) and Marietta D’Almeida (Nonsuch High).

The competition, which is open to all members of Sutton Music Service ensembles aged 18 and under, will be adjudicated by David Stowe, Head of Wandsworth Schools Music Service; Chrissy Kinsella, Chief Executive of the Mayor’s Music Fund; and leading professional trumpet player, Cai Isfryn, who lives in Carshalton. The evening will also feature a performance from Sutton Young Singers, Sutton Music Service’s recently formed choir for 8 to 13 year olds.

Please come along and support these fantastic young musicians from 7pm on Monday 27 March at All Saints Church, Carshalton (by the ponds). Admission is free, please see www.suttonmusicservice.org.uk for more details.
