Sutton United have been given an attractive looking home tie in the second round of the Emirates FA Cup, drawn at home to the winners of the replay between League Two sides Crewe Alexandra, who are in the play-off positions, and Cheltenham Town, last season’s Vanarama National league champions, who are just below mid-table. The tie will be played over the weekend of December 2nd to 5th.
A meeting with Crewe would see a reunion with Dario Gradi, the Director of Football at Gresty Road, who played for Sutton in the late 1960s and was a member of the side that played Leeds in the FA Cup in 1970, and later had a brief spell as manager. Should Cheltenham provide the opposition it will be a chance for George McLennan to face the side he made over 30 appearances for last season.
