Theatre announces latest season of top productions

Richmond Theatre today announces a new season of shows brimming with classic comedy, spine-chilling thrillers, magnificent dance and delightful children’s shows. This jam-packed season comes just before extensive renovations ahead of the Theatre’s 120th Anniversary in September of this year.

The internationally lauded dance company, BalletBoyz, are back at Richmond Theatre in a new production, THEM/US. THEM is the work of the company’s very own in-house talent and set to a score by emerging composer Charlotte Harding. US is inspired by the critically acclaimed Christopher Wheeldon duet featured in 2017’s show Fourteen Days, with an extended score by cult singer/songwriter, Keaton Henson.

Following the success of Not Dead Enough (2017), Dead Simple (2015) and The Perfect Murder (2014), multi-million selling author Peter James returns to Richmond Theatre with THE HOUSE ON COLD HILLThis new adaptation stars Rita Simons (I’m A Celebrity 2018, EastEnders)and Joe McFadden (BBC Strictly Come Dancing 2017, Holby City)in a nail-biting story based on the author’s own real-life experience in a haunted house. The story follows the Harcourt family as they move into the house of their dreams. However their dreams quickly turn to nightmares as they realise they are not the only residents at Cold Hill…

After a sell-out run in the West End comes Sam Yates’ unmissable production of David Mamet’s darkly funny classic, GLENGARRY GLEN ROSS starring Mark Benton (Shakespeare & Hathaway – Private InvestigatorsStrictly Come Dancing) and Nigel Harman (Shrek the Musical, Downton Abbey)The stakes are high in this cutting story of four Chicago salesmen who will do anything, legal or otherwise, to seal the deal.

After a compelling adaptation of Great Expectations in 2018, Tilted Wig Productions return to Richmondin collaboration with Malvern Theatres and Churchill Theatre to present Oscar Wilde’s THE PICTURE OF DORIAN GRAY. Starring Jonathan Wrather (Emmerdale), this bold new production of the classic novel looks set to thrill audiences and cleverly questions the real cost of youth and beauty.

Get ready to meet the man behind the nose and discover the side-splitting comedy behind EDMOND DE BERGERAC. Edmond, played by Freddie Fox, is a struggling playwright, until he helps his best friend Leo woo a girl called Jeanne by writing romantic letters to her as if from him…and has a brilliant idea for the plot of his brand new play, Cyrano De Bergerac. With the help of a celebrated actor called Coquelin (Henry Goodman), a theatrical legend called Sarah (Josie Lawrence), and a faded star called Maria (Chizzy Akudolu), Edmond starts writing again. But will the play be a hit?

Little ones can have their first taste of the magical world of ballet in MY FIRST BALLET: SLEEPING BEAUTY. This new version from the English National Ballet has been created especially for children aged 3 and above. With a narrator to help young audiences follow the story and a shortened version of Tchaikovsky’s enchanting score, this show makes for a perfect introduction to ballet as well as a great day out for all the family!

Direct from New York and the West End, comes the award-winning comedy, ADMISSIONS, starring Alex Kingston and Sarah Hadland. Sherri (Kingston) is Head of Admissions at a private school and is fighting to diversify the student intake. However, when her son is deferred from his university of choice and his best friend – who ‘ticks more boxes’ – is accepted, Sherri’s personal ambition collides with her progressive values. From the writer of Bad Jews, ADMISSIONS is both piercing and provocative, leaving audiences debating the topic late into the night.
