Millbrook Academy is on track to join the Greenshaw Learning Trust in January 2018, under a new name, ‘Henley Bank High School’, and a new uniform; and led by a new Head of School, Bradley Nash, and Executive Head, Ben Parnell.
The Greenshaw Learning Trust has been working with the school leadership, Academies Enterprise Trust and the Department for Education, and they all believe that the best way of ensuring that the school can build on its strengths and progress further and faster on its journey of improvement is for it to become part of the Greenshaw Learning Trust.
The Greenshaw Learning Trust is a family of like-minded schools that collaborate closely, whilst retaining and developing their own distinctive character. The Trust has the skills, experience and capacity to ensure that Millbrook/Henley Bank receives the high-quality and cost-effective services and support it requires, and has a track record of successful school improvement that has been recognised by the Department for Education.
Ben Parnell, Director of School Improvement, Greenshaw Learning Trust, said: “Henley Bank High School was the preferred choice for the new name of the school in the consultation with students, parents and staff. The new name was chosen to give the school a new and distinctive identity, reflecting its location and place in its local community.”
The new school badge and uniform were devised in discussion with the school community. The new school colours – chosen by the students – will be black, blue and yellow. The new school badge features a bird – a swift – representing endurance and aspiration, and a symbol of flying giving a link to the old Brockworth airfield.
Mr Parnell added: “The Greenshaw Learning Trust will be subsidising the uniform change for existing students in Years 7 to 10. With Year 11 so close to finishing, they will wear their existing uniform with smart trousers or a skirt, and shoes, not trainers. I will be writing to parents with specific uniform guidance next week.”
