More than 95% of Sutton children secure preferred secondary school places

Over 95% of Sutton children have secured a preferred secondary school place this year despite continued high demand for secondary school places.

“Sutton has outperformed other London boroughs for the number of pupils getting preferred school places this September,” said a spokesperson.

“Sutton performed over 2 percent higher than the London average with 95.4 percent of pupils being offered a place at one of their preferred schools, compared to 93.3 percent of children across the rest of London.

“A total of 87.3 percent of Sutton pupils were offered a place at one of their top three choices of secondary school, with 66.2 percent getting into their first preference school, according to figures released on National Secondary School Offer Day by the Pan London Admissions Board.

“London has seen a drop in parents receiving a first preference offer, primarily due to late selection testing. This has particularly affected boroughs which have selective schools in their area, such as Sutton. “
