Carshalton Artist Open Studios weekends

In June and July Carshalton Artists Open Studios will again celebrate the rich diversity of artistic expression, cultural activities and heritage within the historic village of Carshalton, South London. Key to this trail will be Sutton Heritage’s delightful arts and crafts inspired Little Holland House and culturally significant Honeywood Museum.

It is available for two weekends June 23/24 June 30/July 1

For full details go to Art Trail.

Honeywood Museum in central Carshalton is already a key part of any family weekend, its beautiful location giving way to stunning interiors that showcase the boroughs collection of local art and artefacts.

For CAOS they have planned something very special; a historical arts trail that guides you through the house’s vast art collection, an extraordinary exhibition by Sutton Archives that documents the lives of ordinary local women during the early period of the nineteenth century and a free drop in craft activity for the whole family. Let’s not forget the lovely café as well, which all makes Honeywood Museum an essential stop on the CAOS art trail.

Little Holland House, Carshalton Beeches, will be an exciting new addition to the arts trail for CAOS in 2018 (10:00-17:00 not Saturday 30 June). Newly refurbished, its suburban exterior gives way to a breath-taking interior unique in its use of William Morris inspired arts and crafts. Little Holland House will open specially for CAOS on the Sundays of both weekends and it is a real gem that is still inspiring people years after its creation by one man, Frank Dickinson.

Both houses have disabled access to the lower floor, via a small step, but buggies will need to be left at the door.
