Citizens Advice publish annual review hightling major successes for borough residents

 Citizens Advice Sutton has published its annual review identifying amongst other things that it has obtained financial gains for borough residents of nearly £3 million in welfare benefits, tax credits and debt write offs.

” The review contains cases studies, facts and figures about our service.  In 2017/18, the staff and volunteers of Citizens Advice Sutton achieved a wide range of outputs and outcomes for Sutton residents.  Our volunteers provided more than 2000 individual face to face appointments, providing full advice on complex issues including welfare benefits, employment and housing,” said a spokesperson.

“·         Local Solicitors provided more than 900 free appointments in our offices, advising on issues such as family, civil litigation and probate.

·         We took 11,040 ‘initial contact’ telephone calls through our contact centre; responded to 1,203 online enquiries and provided information to over 500 visitors to our Sutton Information Centre

·         We obtained financial gains for Sutton residents of £2,923,901 in welfare benefits, tax credits and debt write-offs.Citizens Advice Sutton is the lead organisation for ALPS – the borough’s information and advice service, which in 2017/18, responded to well over 21,000 ‘Initial Contacts’.”
