Four fire engines called to disused building in High Street

Four fire engines and 21 firefighters and officers dealt with a blaze in a disused building on High Street in New Malden recently.

The whole of the three storey block was badly damaged by fire. Fire crews managed to stop the fire from spreading to surrounding properties.

Firefighters led a man from a nearby flat to safety.

The Brigade was called at 2222 and the fire was under control by 0023 Fire crews from New Malden, Wimbledon, Surbiton and Kingston fire stations were at the scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
