Major event offers chance to hear about experience of living with mental distress – book now “Chat to Change”

As part of Mental Health Awareness Week, the Sutton Time to Change Hub (Community Action Sutton, Sutton Mental Health Foundation, London Borough of Sutton, Sutton 1 in 4 Network) have developed a really exciting programme of events to raise awareness around mental health and to challenge stigma and discrimination.

One of the key events is the ‘Chat to Change’ conference taking place on the 13th May at the Salvation Army.

The event will provide the opportunity for you to hear from people within the community talking about their experiences of living with mental health distress – these people are from a range of backgrounds and include local Councillors, CEO of a charity and people operating in peer support roles.

Through listening to other people’s journeys we are hoping to inspire people who are also living with mental health distress to see that it is not the only thing that should define who they are.

The conference will also provide an opportunity for us to collectively think about what more we can do as employers and community members to support people with mental health distress and to challenge stigma and discrimination.

“I really hope that you are able to attend this event – a good turnout will help to provide reassurance to people living with mental health distress that they are part of the community and that by chatting about the issues we face then change is possible,” said a spokesperson from Community Action Sutton.

“Please use the link here to book your place http://bit.ly/chattochange and please free to share this email within your networks

“We welcome people who live and work in Sutton – from local residents to those running organisations or managing teams.”
