Spectacular production of Toad of Toad Hall for children with special needs to be staged in Wallington

Head2Head Theatre are bringing their multi sensory theatre to Wallington during the Easter holidays. ‘Toad on the Road’ will give children with disabilities and their families an opportunity to have fun together as they join Toad on his journey to Toad Hall and enjoy an interactive and immersive theatre experience.

For many children with special needs attending a traditional theatre can be a daunting experience. Performances are designed to help overcome some of the barriers that exist with advance packs to help prepare the children, a relaxed, accessible and safe atmosphere and a cast that understands and adapts to the needs of each and every child. “The main thing was that they created a show and an environment where she felt safe to express herself and enjoy the day without anxiety. This is amazing!”

They will be performing for 2 days and there is a morning or afternoon session to choose from with both groups being invited to a relaxed picnic at lunchtime. This gives children the chance to explore the sensory tent and props whilst parents can chat to other families.

“It was really wonderful to have an activity that my disabled child and my four year old could enjoy together”. “There is nothing like this that really meets children’s vast needs”.  “She is scared of theatre but today she joined in”.

The event is being held at Sherwood Park School on Thursday 11th and Friday 12th April. This is a safe and accessible venue with hoist and changing facilities. Tickets are only ÂŁ5 and are selling fast.

The charity is led by a dedicated team of volunteers and the event has been made possible thanks to donations from Tesco Bags of Help, Carshalton Rotary and Fidelity International with support from Sherwood Park School.
