Sutton Giving harnessing the power of LOCAL

Sutton Giving is a new initiative from Community Action Sutton which aims to harness the collaborative power of local – local people, local businesses and local community groups, to shine a light on and tackle local issues, with the aim of improving lives and strengthening the community.

And everyone in the borough can help to achieve this aim.

Sutton Giving has a guiding principle that everyone has something to give, no matter how much or how little.  Together we are stronger and together we can harness the power of local, the very core of our initiative,” said a spokesperson.

“You can help support our borough by making a one-off donation, setting up a standing order for a regular donation to Sutton Giving giving your time or skills as a volunteer or by simply spreading the word.  Together we will make a difference to the lives of residents in the London Borough of Sutton.”

“Working in partnership is at the heart of everything we do. There are a wide range of organisations that offer volunteer opportunities to use your time or skills.”

For it’s first year it had identified offering support to the borough’s young people.

“Our focus for the first year of operation will be supporting young people in our borough, said a spokesperson.

“Young People are our borough’s future.  If we ensure they are cared for, we will positively influence and contribute to their future success and employability that will, in turn, support our borough in future years.

“Sutton Giving will strive to ensure that the young people, living in more deprived wards in the borough, have a more positive start to life and are given opportunities akin to those in more prosperous boroughs.

“We will fundraise, actively encourage people to give their time and skills and build partnerships enabling funds to be made available to organisations that meet the needs of the most vulnerable people in our borough,” said a spokesperson.
