TfL publishes report showing strong support for extention of Trams network to borough

TfL has published a report showing 81 per cent of respondents support the extension of the London Trams network to the borough.

A public consultation into the proposed ‘Sutton Link’ generated 5,980 responses between 31 October 2018 and 6 January 2019. Of those who supplied a postcode – 3,906 (65%) were from Sutton.

Respondents were presented with various transport options and routes on which they could express support. Over 80 per cent supported the extension of the London Trams network as opposed to 40 per cent who supported a Bus Rapid Transit option.

TfL will review all consultation feedback before any final decisions are made on the next stages of the Sutton Link development later this year. The council will share news of the final decision as soon as possible.

TfL will also publish a ‘Responses to issues raised’ document at this time, listing and responding to all of the issues raised by respondents to the ‘Sutton Link’ consultation.
